White and Black Accents

White and Black Accents Designers Britany Simon and Brian Patrick Flynn worked together to bring an updated, picture look to an Atlanta home's traditional holiday decor by including powerful, contrasting elements of white and black.

White and Black Stripes From the over-scale cloth poinsettias on the Christmas tree into the mixture of black-and-white wrapping paper prints, the colour combination creates its way round the living room in both a robust and subtle manner.

Wrapped Books Designers frequently add both graphic appeal and colorful updates to hardback books by covering the books with coordinating fabrics. To incorporate black, red and white into the living space, every publication was covered with stripes and gingham. By keeping the palette holiday-centric, but with all patterns meant for year-round use, this ensures that the books can remain out once the holidays have passed.

Festive Sofa Accessories To add holiday flair into the living room's year-round couch, cushions and throws are layered and the tables are adorned with decorations for a joyous, seasonal touch.

Holiday Sofa Pillows Throw pillows are an instant way to add holiday flair to your furniture. Since the holiday season rolls, this living area's sofa is supplied a fast and simple Christmas makeover with big metallic silk pillows paired with smaller ones featuring a wintry red, white and black plaid pattern.

Ornament Lamps Fillable transparent glass lamps offer the chance to change up the appearance of your task lighting seasonally. To be able to bring white, black, red and metallic flair to this living area's set of lamps, an off-white drum shade with a thin ring of black detailing was inserted. The glass body has been stuffed with a combination of red, gold and silver ornaments. After the holidays pass, the lamps can immediately take on everyday appeal by switching the decorations out for something different.

Main Color Scheme From different vantage points within the living room, white and black can take on identity as the secondary or dominant colour scheme. Upon entry, guests are greeted with strong elements of crimson and green which are broken up by beams of white and black. Once seated at the area, though, black and white becomes the dominant style component. This sort of colour mixing is a superb means to achieve equilibrium and prevent the possibility of becoming matchy.

Contrasting Ornaments To be able to bring the appropriate balance of black and white to a Christmas tree, remember that contrast and proximity are key. When placed on a green tree, black decorations tend to blend in and white decorations tend to stand outside. When hanging the ornaments, consider clustering them close to one another ensuring roughly two black ornaments for every white ornament. This mix will keep the suitable contrast consistent so both colors are showcased equally.

Striped Poinsettias At least one bold statement of white and black is vital to really making the colour palette pop. Fabric poinsettias made from patterned fabric or even strong felt are easy to make and make it possible for you to go as large as necessary. All that's required to make these is cloth, scissors, a needle, thread, hot glue and a button.

Patterned Skirt Tree skirts offer another opportunity to play with black and white through routine. Throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas, it's probably that the tree skirt will stay bare and you'll have the ability to see it clearly. Once covered up with gifts, the skirt will reduce its existence. Consider using black mixed with another vacation accent color, then bringing in shades of white through wrapped presents. This will ensure your skirt will still remain part of the general design.

Cozy Throw When upgrading your holiday palette with black and white, it's not necessary to stick with black and white prints specific to the holidays. To dress up this wingback chair, a red-and-white check pillow has been paired with a graphic black-and-white throw blanket. This appearance also works for everyday usage.

Santa Stationery Following is a white and black idea that comes straight from a printer. Have your designated Santa print out Santa stationery online, sign it and leave it close to your children's thank you treats.

Fireside Decor This fireside gift wrapping area continues the white and black theme from the floor into the fireplace and to the Christmas tree thanks to a graphic rug, handmade stockings along with a tree decorated mostly with black and natural-toned ornaments.

Plaid Tree Skirt If it comes to picking a holiday tree skirt that is somewhat less anticipated than those comprising reindeer or snowflakes, think about plaid or tartan. Not merely can plaids and tartans evoke a wintry feeling, but they also bring into a manly touch that can keep your overall holiday decoration as attractive to guys as it is to girls.

Natural-Toned Tree Decor Since the present wrap area was designed to be thick on light and black on white, the tree is dressed mostly with black and black natural-toned ornaments. This causes a more subtle aesthetic. The played-down approach allows the room's main feature, a light installation piece within the mantel, to remain the focus of the room.

Lighted Focal Point For strong, image effect, Britany created a lighting setup out of three cardboard letters and industrial world string lights. Once illuminated, the trio of letters instantly becomes the room's main focus. To balance the intensity of the bright white, black was used greatly in other areas to keep the color scheme balanced.

Patterned Stockings A small bit of white and black goes a long way. Britany had four custom sleeves created for Mom, Dad, daughter and son -- each featuring a subtle or strong use of white and black.

Holiday Apothecary Jars To be able to add pops of color and black and white on the fireside gift wrapping region's mantel, Britany filled three clear glass apothecary jars with tiny gifts using wrapping paper in shades of red, white and black.

Bold Tree Pots Dress up your fireplace this season with small cypress or juniper trees in bold-colored pots. If selecting a white or black pot, look at adding a couple of metallic or reddish decorations into the tree. Use a green or red kettle to get a big punch of colour, and utilize ornaments in white or black to maintain the color scheme flowing throughout the shrub.
